It all started with my first trip to market in Atlanta with my best friend Ann. Little did I know this experience would be the spark to ignite the beginnings of Monkey Sea. Many things converged at one time: a need for a unique shopping experience in our small sea island town of Edisto, an available space in the only shopping center, an outlet to stretch my creativity, with all of this underway - it is no accident that Monkey Sea was born. Three daughters from teenage to twenties didn’t hurt the cause either. Goodness knows they are experts on sharing the latest trends, plus they make great help during the summer. With these women of all ages in the mix, we offer something for every generation.
The idea to be diverse and offer a little bit to everyone has been a phenomenal draw. The main vision as a “girly girl” kind of shopping experience that offers everything from home décor, to apparel, children’s and baby gifts, jewelry, coastal fare, with a splash of items for men too. After all, women do most of the shopping on vacation – but we couldn’t leave out the men! There was also a desire to create a fun, joyful place to meet a new friend or find an old one. All of this and more has been captured in Monkey Sea as many of our patrons exclaim “I just love it – it’s wonderful!”
Our vision in creating this online shopping experience was born by our customers' desire and our need to share the same fun and joy even long after your visit in the local store in Edisto Beach, SC. For the ones that have never been to Edisto, we strive to share a little of that same fun and joyfulness to the world in their shopping experience online.
